At the French Young Horse Championships held in Fontainebleau in mid-September, Hanoverian and Rhineland horses won many medals and achieved good results.
In the 5-year-old class, Charlotte Chalvignac became French champion with Furstin Toto LH by Furst Toto/Ampere, bred by Jean-Claude Ferrrand, Contest FRA. Hanoverian horses also took second and third place. Fantasy des Paluds, also sired by Fürst Toto, out of Wanja by De Niro/Plaisir d’Amour, bred by Pablo Bouillot, Maussane des Alpilles FRA, took silver with Mathilde Juglaret. Fantasy des Paluds is a half-sister to Sultan des Paluds FRH, who won the silver medal at the 2017 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and was further trained by Annabella Pidgley. Christine Moulis Lebecq completed the podium with the bronze medal for Zarathoustra by Zenon out of Lambada by Lord Sinclair, bred by Heinz Croonenbroek, Ehrendingen CH. Ludwig by Lord Loxley out of Querele by Quaterback (breeder: Roger Ballmann, St. Vith BEL) with Alizee Roussel took fifth place.
In the six-year-old age group, Pablo Bouillot and his mare Wanja produced another medal winner. Finest Pearl de Paluds, sired by Finest, became vice-champion under Mathilde Juglaret. The Rhineland stallion Saeta de Philip by Sir Sandro out of a Lipizzaner mare by Maestoso Beja II, bred by Philip Lipizzan, La Roque D’Antheron FRA, placed sixth in the final with Philip Guillaume.
Further placings in the six-year-old class: 7th Daredevil de Hus by Don Juan de Hus/Rubin Royal (breeder: Haras de Hus, Petit Mars FRA) with Sarah Keufer, 8th Secret Dream by Secret/Lauries Crusador xx (breeder: Jochen Reinstorf, Visselhövede), 10th Mister Grey by Morricone/Desert Moon (breeder: Horst Erxleben, Bienenbüttel) with Mathilde Juglaret. Mister Grey and Secret Dream were sold to France via the Verden riding horse auctions.
