Introducing a new stallion crop – jumping

Lugano – Grande – Voltaire

In addition to international “ingredients”, the Hannoveraner performance sires Lugano I, Grande and Gotthard can be found in the pedigree of the young stallion by Ogano Sitte/Marome NW (breeder Gestüt Eihenhain, Blender). But it is not only this blood combination that will attract interest in the young stallion with the head number 93.  His dam is L.St.-S Andrea by Marome NW/Voltaire again. L.St.-S Andrea was internationally successful up to 1.60m under Gert Jan Bruggink (NED). She placed at this level in Mannheim, Salzburg, Vienna and Maastricht, among others. L.St.-S Andrea was victorious over 1.60 m with Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA) in Dubai. Gert Jan Bruggink also rode L.St.-S Andrea’s full brother, Vampire, to success in international courses over 1.60 m.

The generation before that also produced highly successful horses. Zojasper Imperio Egipcio by Concorde/Jasper is a half-brother to the dam of Andrea and Vampire. Under the saddle of Jerome Guery (BEL), he was also successful up to 1.60 m.

Elite combination

“The horse must stay.” This motto was not just a symbol in Hubert and Elisabeth Knigge’s indoor arena in Ahlden. It was their motto in life. Hubert Knigge is the breeder of LS-S La Cucaracha by Landclassic/Cheenook. For more than six years, the bay mare competed at international shows with Jan Sprehe in the saddle. The pair came in fourth at the 2011 German Championships, placed several times at 1.55 m and won at 1.50 m in Munich in 2010.

The dam's half-brother, High Five FRH by Hickstead White, was the winner of the Hannoveraner Springpferde-Masters 2022, second in the Hannoveraner Springpferde-Masters 2021, a Bundeschampionat finalist in 2022 and placed internationally at 1.40 m in 2023. Jessica Freye was always in the saddle for these successes. Photo: Hannoveraner Verband/Fellner

But LS-S La Cucaracha is not the only successful horse of her dam Cara Mia. LS-S Campagnarde by Carabas, ridden by Sebastian Haas, was also successful internationally up to 1.50 m. She is already the dam of two internationally advanced (S) level placed horses. Darline Eisenmenger successfully rode Gold Cat by Conteur out of Cara Mia up to 1.40 m and the once licensed High Five FRH by Hickstead White was second in the Hannoveraner Show Jumping Masters 2021, Bundeschampionat finalist 2022 and internationally placed at 1.40 m in 2023. Jessica Freye was always in the saddle for these successes.

LS-S La Cucaracha, in breeding to the former world-class show jumper Hickstead, provides the head number 78 of this year’s show jumping stallion collection. The three-year-old, whose half-sister Scaracha by Stakkato Gold celebrated her first international successes this year, will open the show jumping stallion licensing.

Starlight – A highlight from the Norm line

The Norm line not only counts among the most successful show jumping dam lines in all of Europe and has produced five different nations’ cup horses, but it has also been at home at the Habermann family’s farm in Hänigsen for more than 100 years. Their broodmare stock currently includes a particularly valuable mare: St.Pr.St. Starlight by Salito/Calypso II (breeder Helmut Habermann, Hänigsen). Her half-sister Fabriana by Fabriano was internationally successful up to 1.50 m under the British rider Tim Gredley and her offspring have already reached the same level of competition.

Chackalito by Check In is inbred to Norm through the Oldenburg branch of the dam line and has been successful in international eventing competitions up to CCI*** with Thibault Champel (FRA). The full siblings IB Qualita and Qualibro, both by Quaid I, collected their ribbons in the show jumping course. Qualibro competed up to 1.50 m with Hans-Günther Blum and IB Qualita up to 1.60 m with Tim Rieskamp-Gödeking.

In particular, the breeding of Quaid I to St.Pr.St. Starlight proved to be particularly successful. She also produced the Celle State Stud stallions Qualito I and II. Qualito I, unfortunately retired from breeding far too early, always took top places in the German Equestrian Federation’s breeding evaluation for young horse tests. Meanwhile, his oldest offspring are nine years old and, with a HEK breeding value of 131, also give him excellent references for the higher classes. Qualito II qualified for the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf this year and a third full brother of the Qualitos is coming to Verden this year for the show jumping licensing.

Dream team from Bargstedt

Crumble Cheesecake K FRH by Crumble/Chasseur I (breeder Martin Klintworth, Bargstedt) and his permanent rider Ole Klintworth simply belong together. The likeable gray, bred by his father, paved the way for his rider to compete at the Bundeschampionat for the first time and to win advanced (S) level classes, with Ole accompanying him every step of the way.

The two are also closely linked to the Verden licensing in their careers. Two years ago, they secured the title of Hannoveraner Show Jumping Masters and last year they took second place in the final standings. Ole Klintworth will be competing again this year with Crumble Cheesecake K FRH.

Crumble Cheesecake K FRH’s dam, St.Pr.St. Cintia by Chasseur/For Pleasure (breeder Willi Fritsch, Bargstedt), is one of the particularly valuable PHS*** mares due to her inheritance. In addition to Crumble Cheesecake K FRH, the Casino daughter Cylla is one of her particularly successful offspring. Ole Klitworth has already had success in advanced (S) level classes with this mare. St.Pr.St. Cintia herself was successfully shown in young horse classes by father Martin Klintworth and sister Janina Klintworth, among others.

Big footsteps for the young stallion by For Trasure VDL out of St.Pr.St. Cintia to follow, with head number 86.

From a proven background

Only last year, the Ambella dam line, which originated in Bersenbrück in 1916, was the talk of the town at the Hannoveraner show jumping licensing. Johannes zur Lage from Bersenbrück presented the Hannoveraner Mare of the Year, Lady Gaga by Lord Pezi/Fly High. Her hereditary performance is outstanding and at this point in time already ranged from the licensed son Captain Pezi by Cicero Z to the Nations Cup winner Commissar Pezi by Commissario. A licensed stallion by Vingino and an awarded stallion by Take Care by Taloubet Z: that was the success of the Ambella line at the 2023 licensing.

At this year’s licensing, the stallion with head number 111 by Casallco/Van Gogh has the same granddam as Lady Gaga. His dam Volare (German Equestrian Federation Venezia 67) by Van Gogh/Athletico is thus a half-sister to the dam of the Hannoveraner Mare of the Year 2023. She was internationally successful up to 1.40 meters and nationally successful up to 1.45 meters with Wilhelm Winkeler. Her half-sister Fly Light by Fly High also celebrated successes up to 1.40 meters with the same rider, and her half-brother Portofino by Lord Pezi was even successful internationally up to 1.50 meters. The pedigree of this young stallion is thus perfectly secured in terms of performance.

Proven Loni

Born in 2001, Loni by Lordanos/Werther (breeder: Gerhard Wehrs, Lehrte) has an impressive record as a producer. The Julianca dam line, which she is part of, has been maintained and developed by the Wehrs family for many generations.

Loni’s very first foal made a big impact in the sport. Savoy von Stolzenberg achieved his greatest successes under Jan Sprehe, with whom he took international placings up to 1.55 m. His full sister Stella was successful up to 1.40 m under Zuzana Mikova.

In summer, Loni’s breeding to Perigueux was even more successful. Premonition changed ownership to Australia through the 2010 Stallion Sales and is victorious in eventing competitions up to CIC** there. His full brother Paganini is also licensed. He became Hannoveraner Show Jumping Champion in 2018 with Tobias Meyer. He later moved to the USA and, under the name Milan and with Liobov Kochetova (RUS), achieved placings up to 1.60 m.

In addition, the Celle State Stud stallion Chaka by Cavoiro – H is among the offspring of this special mare. A fourth licensing candidate will be presented in Verden this year.
