Paris 2024 – Untouchable: olympic caliber

Year of birth: 2013
Breeder: Marie-Claire Wimmer, Königslutter
Rider: Ramzy Al Duhami

Two Van Helsing offspring will be competing for Saudi Arabia in Paris. Alongside Ventago is the eleven-year-old Untouchable. And this despite the fact that the Valentino/Stakkato son has only produced a few foals. Only a good 200 foals are registered in total with the German Equestrian Federation, but almost half of them are successful in sport, 30 of them in advanced show jumping competitions. Awarded a premium at the 2009 licensing, he was himself highly successful internationally with Ireland’s Denis Lynch.

At the beginning of Untouchable’s pedigree is the foundation mare Königsaue. She has found her way into numerous pedigrees via the foundation stallions Frustra I and II. Untouchable’s career began in southern Germany, where she was successful with various riders in tests for young show jumpers. The mare was sold to the United States in 2020. She gained her first international honours at the age of nine with the Israeli Joshua Tabor on the big courses in Florida.

Back in Europe, Spencer Smith took her on in 2022 and competed with Untouchable in the Global Champions Tour in Madrid/ESP, St. Tropez/FRA, Cannes/FRA and Valkenswaard/NED. The pair were placed in the Grand Prix of Europe at the Soers in Aachen. After competing in the Nations Cup for the US team in Dublin/IRL, Untouchable passed into Saudi Arabian ownership and found a suitable rider in Ramzy Al Duhami. The new combination gained a lot of experience in 1.55 and 1.60 metre competitions. In the same year, they won two gold medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou/CHN. Their winning streak continued and they finished 14th at the World Cup Final at the beginning of the year.

This will be Ramzy Al Duhami’s sixth Olympic Games. The now 52-year-old already took part in 1996 in Atlanta/USA. At that time with his Don Juan/Ramiro son Let’s Talk About, a former Verden auction horse. He had a serious fall in Sydney/AUS in 2000, from which he only recovered slowly. In 2012 in London/GBR, Ramzy Al Duhami sensationally won the bronze medal with the team from Saudi Arabia. ‘That was amazing and surprising,’ he says. He was given a special honour in Paris, carrying the flag of his home country at the opening ceremony. He found a fitting description for his horse: ‘She is a very good Olympic-calibre horse!’
