Top-priced foal Valergo sold to the USA for 51,000 Euros

A summer breeze swept through the well-attended Niedersachsenhalle and helped the 50th Elite Foal and Broodmare Auction to run smoothly. Valergo topped the statistics for 51,000 Euros. At the anniversary event – the first foal auction in Verden took place in 1974 – the 111 foals achieved an average price of 8,818 Euros.

The V-Power/Danone son Valergo (breeder and exhibitor: Lambert and Alois Wester, Stavern) won hearts in the Niedersachsenhalle when he was sold at 51,000 Euros. The typey liver chestnut from the dam line of Jessica, which also produced Glamourdale’s sire Lord Leatherdale, is expected to grow up in the USA.

Before Valergo entered the auction ring, Qué Bonito had already cast a spell over the numerous visitors. The Qandide/San Amour son (breeder and exhibitor: Werner Wegener, Wunstorf) attracted attention because he was a real eye-catcher with his above-average movement quality as well as his buckskin colour. He was auctioned off to a Danish stallion rearer for 33,000 Euros.

Shortly before the end of the 50th Elite Foal and Broodmare Auction, the second most expensive foal made his appearance. A regular customer from Sweden had the longest breath and secured another V-Power son, Van Dango, who has a Feinrich dam (breeder and exhibitor: Karl Rumpke, Wagenfeld) for 36,000 Euros.

The most sought-after foal with jumping pedigree was extra class in the truest sense of the word. The Ermitage Kalone/Cascadello son Extra Klasse (breeder and exhibitor: Ludwig Decker Jun., Bierbergen) cost a renowned show jumping stable 17,500 Euros. The bay stallion also comes from an extra class dam line: His fourth dam is the dam of the stamp stallion Grannus.

The 111 representatives of the year 2024 achieved an average price of 8,818 Euros. 24 foals cost more than 10,000 Euros. 22 foals found new owners outside Germany. A foal that was sold to Argentina will travel the furthest. Buyers from Spain secured the largest contingent with five foals, followed by Sweden with four foals.
