One week after the dressage stallions, the Niedersachsenhalle was dedicated to show jumping. A total of 42 highly talented stallions presented themselves to the licensing commission. 23 of them left Verden with a positive licensing decision. The title ‘premium stallion’ was awarded six times. 22 licensed and 17 non-licensed stallions attended the stallion sales. A son of Arezzo VDL/Cornado literally jumped to the top price of 195,000 euros. After the excellent auction of the dressage stallions, the show jumping stallions also recorded a brilliant average price of 58,455 euros.
The last premium stallion to enter the well-attended auction hall was an Arezzo VDL/Cornado son (breeder: Antonius Schulze-Averdiek, Rosendahl, exhibitor: Schulze-Averdiek Sportpferde und Aufzucht GbR, Rosendahl). An international championship stable from Hessen secured this exceptionally talented stallion for 195,000 euros. This strong-type grey impressed with his scope and courage – the best qualities for a modern show jumper. Exhibitor Antonius Schulze-Averdiek managed the feat of presenting a second premium stallion: a Jasper/Calido son (breeder: Astrid Peter, Wolfsburg), whose dam and granddam are sport-tested. And the cash register rang a second time. A regular customer from Florida, who had already purchased one of the show jumper collection’s gems at the 141st Elite Auction six weeks ago, bought the promising grey for 92,000 euros. The American struck it rich again. The last licensed stallion, a son of Dia Corrado/Contendro (breeder and exhibitor: Andrea Bargtsen, Buchholz), became the most expensive two-and-a-half-year-old without a premium when he was sold for 110,000 euros.
180,000 euros was the amount paid by championship rider Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Christoph Zimmermann for a strikingly marked chestnut by Ogano Sitte/Marome NW (breeder and exhibitor: Gestüt Eichenhain, Blender-Varste). He will be available through the Sven Völz station in Bienenbüttel. The dam of this self-confident youngster is Gert Jan Bruggink’s exceptional mare Andrea. A Stakkato Gold/Julio son attracted a lot of attention with his elastic and responsive jumping. He also has highly successful relatives – his granddam is Rene Tebbel’s successful horse Farina – and he will also be trained by an international show jumper in the future. Frederick De Backer accepted the bid at 100,000 euros.
Shortly after St.Pr.St. Starlight was named Hannoveraner Mare of the Year, her son by Quaid/Salito (breeder: Helmut Habermann, Hänigsen, exhibitor: IB Berger, Sulzbach-Rosendahl) entered the Niedersachsenhalle. This stallion already has two proven full brothers in breeding, Qualito I and II. The State Stud of Celle and the Brandenburg State Stud of Neustadt (Dosse) jointly purchased the premium stallion, who cost 66,000 euros. The two state studs also jointly purchased a son of Utamaro D’Ecaussines/Acorado (breeder and raiser: Frank Johannsen, Buxtehude) for 38,000 euros. The granddam of the colourful chestnut stallion is a half-sister of Lars Nieberg’s team Olympic champion from Sydney, Esprit FRH. A son of Vingino/Calido (breeder: Hedi Franke, Zernien, exhibitor: Georg Bräuer, Elze) who is endowed with all possibilities found a new owner in Lower Saxony for 46,000 euros.
Two stallions shared first place in the statistics of non-licensed stallions. An Eldorado/Stakkato son (breeder and raiser: Dr. Cord Gaus, Adelheidsdorf) was sold to China for 30,000 euros. A customer from Baden-Württemberg paid the same price for a Finishing Touch Wareslage/Chacco-Blue son (breeder: Heide and Helmut Peters, Hammah, exhibitor: Maximilian Wurster, Bad Zwischenahn). The average price was 17,912 euros.
